How did India get independence ?

Independence in 1947 had nothing to do with Gandhi or Bose. It was because in the Second World War Germany attacked England, and may possibly have conquered it but for American aid. And the Americans extracted their price, by pressurizing the British to give independence to India, so that the Indian market may be opened up for American investments too, and the raw materials in India may be available to U.S. industries too, instead of being monopolized by the British. This is the real meaning of 1947

  8. I often disagrees with you,but in this case i am much more closer to your opinion. In fact,it is true that If there was no second world war God knows whether we could get independence or not. After second world war Soviets and Americans became the super-power and shadowed formal colonial powers like France,Britain,Spain,Portugal etc.I personally believe India got a negotiated freedom or just transfer of power. We have never earned or gained freedom like the other nations did.A large part of the Indian society was not taking part in the freedom struggle. It was mainly a Congressi freedom struggle which was not accompanied by Muslim league, various caste organizations, princely states.if it was real struggle for freedom then India would not have been divided, many of the princely states including Kashmir were undecided to join Union of India after Independence. But at the same time I cannot say Bose or Gandhi did not fight for freedom but probably their struggle/strategy did not match the requirement to achieve independence/snatch independence from the Britishers for such a big country like India with enormous diversity though both of them were popular from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.Nation should be grateful to them but at the same time we should not forget the the great world war 2 which changed the entire geo-political map of the world with far reaching consequences to the world including India.

  9. Moreover, during the second world war and of course, in the first world war British had great financial and human resourse loss. In the meanwhile, industrial revolution encouraged economies to focus on the growth of their nations. At the same time, British realised this truth and started focusing on the growth of its economy. And this was the time when they understood the fact that making and ruling over colonies with power has become an old fashion,
On the other hand US was focusing on research, innovation, production, search for the potential market for their produced goods with the skilled manpower. Whereas, Britain had the immence crunch of manpower and their old fashioned strategy made it stand on the backfoot. US started many couses añd changes in its education system to prepare a long queue of skilled manpower in order to fulfil its vacant seats in factories and other places. It was the time when study of MBA came into existence and this degree became a kind of gatepass to become a manager.
On the side in Britain, women had to come out majorly from their houses to wprk in the factories or other place. And this kind of situations forced Britaiñ to change its policies. Because, Britain was running far behind of US.
So I strongly agree with the fact that India became a free country because Britain did not want to rule over India.

  10. Don't know much but would like to say they couldn't afford another 1857 with much experienced army for if they had stayed much the hot heads would have lead the revolt and that too another one

For they couldn't afford the resistance as men and material would be at loss the far sighted English sat up the meetings etc to keep the colonies humble less violent with a safe passage and shifting of interest and others while gathered a soft spot and ruled till the end

All or more over the monarchy of British was never Over throwed as the governor general of Independent India was also british which eventually suppressed the feeling of nationalism a nation should have after independence and lead to corruption on a very large scale starting from the purchase of British Jeeps itself...
