India must become a prosperous country

I am sad because my country could be a highly prosperous country with a high standard of living for all my countrymen, but the truth is that about 80% of my people are living in poverty.

 It need not be so.

In feudal times the methods of production were so primitive and backward ( the bullock was used for tilling the land ) that only a handful of people ( kings, zamindars, etc) could be rich, while 99% people had to be poor, because the backward methods of production generated so little wealth that  the vast majority of people had to be poor. When the cake is so small, only a handful of people can eat it.

This situation has drastically changed after the Industrial Revolution, which began in England in the mid 18th century, and then spread elsewhere. Now a unique situation has developed in world history. Modern industry is so powerful and so big that now enough wealth can be generated to give a decent life to everyone, and now no one need be poor.

Despite this, 80% of our people are poor. There is massive poverty, unemployment, malnutrition, lack of healthcare and good education etc. in our country. The poor people are naturally asking why should they remain poor when they need not be so.

The patriotic modern minded people in our country must now seriously set about to solve this problem, so that all Indians enjoy a high standard of living
